REMOTELY PILOTED AIRCRAFT TRAINING

For an individual to fly a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) legally for a commercial purpose, they require an appropriate Aviation Pilot Licence and must operate under an Unmanned Operators Certificate.   The Remote Pilot Course follows a training syllabus set by CASA and is designed for people with no aviation experience.  The Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) training is focused entirely on the operation of a remotely piloted aircraft and its systems. Many companies offer Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Training and these courses have many different names but they are all basically the same. The other names include UAV Training, RPAS Training and Drone Training.

Competitor Comparison (apples with apples)

When you are comparing our Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training course (RPA)and pricing to our competitors please consider the following. The qualifications of the instructors we employ, together with our industry partners, ensures you walk away from our training will everything completed and all the required paperwork is submitted to CASA. You will not have to visit flying schools trying to complete licence forms, radio exams or English language checks. Some points for you to consider:

  • We are an Aviation Company that operates manned and unmanned aircraft and therefore have a wealth of experience,
  • We hold CASA Aviation licences namely:
    • An Air Operators Certificate (AOC) – that authorises our manned aircraft operations,
    • Unmanned Operators Certificate (UOC) – that authorises our unmanned aircraft operations
  • You are attending this training to obtain an Aviation Pilot Licence (the Remote Pilot Licence) and its privileges.  Therefore an aviation company is best positioned to provide you with this training,
  • We train from our Aviation Base at Archerfield Airport which has flight school facilities,
  • All of our instructors hold at least a Commercial Pilot licence which ensures you are taught by experienced aviators in manned and unmanned aircraft.

5 Day Full Time Course – Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA)

Our full time Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) training course runs for 5 days from Monday to Friday and starts daily at 8am and concludes at 4.30pm.

3 Week – Part-Time – Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training Course (RPA)

This Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) course acknowledges that life is busy and not everyone has the opportunity to take a week off work to do a 5 day course. This 3 week course runs on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday nights for a 3 week period and concludes with a Saturday morning flight to finalise your flight hours and skills. The course starts at 6pm and finishes at 9.30pm.

As with our 5 Day Full time Course, the flying training consists of simulator flying, indoor flying in our hangar and outdoor flying in the park. As this course starts at 6pm, it is impossible to conduct ‘outdoor’ flying training as it is dark. For this reason, a Saturday Morning will be set aside for the outdoor component.

You are not missing out on anything by doing the course part-time.  Same Theory and Same Flying!

Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training  Course – Course Notes

This is the Basic Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Course and covers the required CASA Syllabus to ensure you possess the required knowledge and skill to operate a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) legally and safely under the provision of a Remote Pilot Licence. This is an Aviation Course and on the successful completion of it you are issued with a CASA Remote Pilot Licence and entitled to its privileges.

All Aviation courses are competency based and as such you must pass the theory and practical components to be deemed competent. This course includes the required 5 hours of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) flying to meet the requirements of the Remote Pilot Licence. The 5 hours of flying is not designed to train you as a ‘Drone Racer’ but provide you with basic flying skills you need with an element of precision.

We understand that some students are already very experienced and competent in flying Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) or RC Aircraft and we will embrace those skills. However, this does not change the fact that you must complete this course (the CASA Syllabus) in both theory and practical components to the standard required.

Remember, we are an aviation company providing an aviation related course to individuals so they can obtain an Aviation licence namely the Remote Pilot Certificate. Ultimately, it all about the Legal and Safe operation of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA).
