FLIGHT CREW CONVERSIONS

Remote Pilot Licence RePL training designed for individuals who have aviation qualifications such as a private, commercial or airline pilot licence. Persons with these qualifications can fast track as they already meet the majority of the requirements and by completing operational training.

Flight Crew Conversions – Remote Pilot Licence Operational Training

This course is designed for those who have aviation qualifications such as private, commercial or airline pilot licence holders. Persons with these qualifications can fast track as they already meet the majority of the aviation theory requirements and hold a Radio Operators Certificate (AROC). If you already hold these licences, you can apply for a Remote Pilot Licence once you complete the below additional training namely.

  1. Undergo ‘operational’ training on the RPA category you will be flying, and
  2. Log 5 Hours of flight time in your RPA logbook.

Operational Training

To obtain a RePL you must complete operational training on the RPA you propose to operate. (eg Multirotar <7kg)

  • For the under 7kg class we use the DJI F450/F550 & Phantom 2-4
  • For the under 20kg class we use the DJI S800 & S900.

For Fixed Wing, we use the;

  • The Skywalker,  and
  • An Event38 E384.

Log 5 Hours of RPA Flying

You are required to have logged 5 hours of RPA flying time in your log book prior to submitting your licence application to CASA.

You can log the 5 hours on your own or during our operational training course.

If you decide to fly with us, you will fly the  DJI F450/F550 and Phantoms 2-4.

Flight Crew Operational Training Course Information

Operational training is designed for people with existing aviation qualifications who already meet CASA’s knowledge requirements for a Remote Pilot Licence. These professionals can apply for a licence themselves by simply logging 5 hours of flying and completing operational training with a CASA certified training organisation. Operational training includes practical operational flight training at our flying filed and concludes with a flight assessment to determine that you can fly safely and legally.  On successful completion of the operational training we will provide you with a certificate that you submit to CASA when making application for the Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) As aviation professionals are safety and systems focused this course includes access to online theory modules that specifically relate to RPA operations including RPA systems, RPA air law, and RPA mission planning.

After you enrol in this course one of our friendly staff will contact you and book you into the next practical flight training weekend and provide you access to the online learning modules.

The Operational Training Course Includes:

  • Attending one of our weekend practical flying sessions, (With our full course students)
  • Fly our RPAs for up to 5 hours depending on your prior experience (
  • Certificate of Completion for your submission to CASA
  • Access to condensed online RPA theory specific to experienced aviators (Not compulsory but recommended)

To obtain a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL), on completion of the operational training course the student must:

  • Submit CASA Form 101-01
  • Submit the Certificate of Completion of the operational training
  • Provide evidence of 5 hours of flying in a log book
  • Pay current CASA licence fee of $160
